Sandra Allweiler
Dr. Sandra Allweiler is an Associate Professor of Anesthesiology at the College of Veterinary Medicine of the University of Minnesota in St. Paul, MN. She graduated in 1997 from Ludwig- Maximilian University in Munich, Germany and received her Dr. med-vet degree from the University of Zurich, Switzerland in 2001. The same year she started a large animal anesthesia internship at New Bolton Center, the Large Animal Veterinary Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.
In 2005 Sandra completed a three-year residency in veterinary anesthesia at the Royal Veterinary College in London, UK.
Sandra worked as a clinical instructor at the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in Saskatoon, Canada before she accepted in 2006 a position as Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology at Colorado State University, that she held until 2016.
She is Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Anesthesia & Analgesia. Her interests are in pain management (especially geriatric and cancer patients) and wildlife anesthesia. She is certified in traditional (Chi Institute) and veterinary medical acupuncture and in canine massage and rehabilitation through the Canine Rehabilitation Institute (CRI). She lectures nationally and internationally on pain management, acupuncture and wildlife anesthesia.
Sandra is a diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Anesthesia & Analgesia, and member of the Association of Veterinary Anaesthetists, the American Association of Wildlife Veterinarians, and the International Veterinary Acupuncture Society.
Outside of work Sandra enjoys photography, hiking, traveling and most important spending time with her family.
