RECOVER CPR RESCUER CERTIFICATION COURSE FOR VETERINARIANS

For:

1 day, from November 21, 2019 to November 21, 2019

Course description

RECOVER CERTIFICATION IN CARDIOPULMONARY RESUSCITATION (CPR): BASIC (BLS) & ADVANCED LIFE SUPPORT (ALS) How do we best treat animals in cardiopulmonary arrest? Evidence-based veterinary CPR guidelines published by the RECOVER Initiative in 2012 provide recommendations on how to perform CPR in dogs and cats (https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/toc/14764431/22/s1). To advance implementation of these guidelines in clinical practice the RECOVER initiative developed a CPR certification process approved by the American College of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care (ACVECC) and endorsed by the Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Society (VECCS). This course is the only one of its kind that will first provide you with the principles, tools and practical opportunities to acquire competency in delivering high-quality CPR to dogs and cats (online and in-person RECOVER certification). It is split into two components: Part 1: RECOVER BLS and ALS Webinars To acquire foundation knowledge in CPR, course subscribers are first taking an on-demand online-certification course provided via the RECOVER initiative and included in the course fee for this CPR course. The online course contains a BLS and an ALS component and will require approximately 8.5 hours to complete, but course subscribers can take it at their own pace in the months and weeks leading up to the CPR workshop in November. The successful completion of this online course is a prerequisite for participation in the practical training sessions of the CPR workshop and the subsequent certification as BLS- and ALS Rescuer. The online course is accessible for one year after first access and the tests can be taken as often as desired until passed. The online course has been accredited 5 (BLS-course) and 3 (ALS course) ATF CE credits. Part 2: RECOVER rescuer certification – BLS and ALS During the CPR workshop, participants will proceed to the in-person certification workshop in BLS and ALS. They will perform several exercises on manikins to first learn the psychomotor skills essential for delivery of high quality BLS, followed by an assessment to ascertain everyone’s competency. Second, we will form resuscitation teams and engage in a series of ALS scenarios presented in an immersive simulation environment. The performance of the teams and the learning objectives of each scenario will be discussed in interactive debriefing sessions before proceeding to the next, more complex scenario. At the conclusion of the practice scenarios, each team will be assessed in additional CPR scenarios to ascertain everyone’s competency. The CPR workshop has been accredited 7 ATF CE credits. Instructors: Manuel Boller, DVM, MS, Dipl. ACVECC, Melbourne (AUS) & Sabrina Höhne, DVM, Dipl. ACVECC, Dipl. ECVECC, Berne (CH) Course Fees: € 580.-- plus 19 % VAT ATF credits 7 for the workshop; RACE credits: 8.5 for theonline course; ATF- credits: 8 for complete online course Prerequisite for admission to workshop: Successful completion of the Basic (BLS) and Advancedl Life Support (ALS) e-learning courses • Registration deadline: 30 SEPT 2019 (maximum 18 participants) For more details and registration please upload the registration form found below under Course Program.
