Veterinary Technician Certificate Course in Principle Techniques of Small Animal Anesthesia, Perioperative Analgesia & Critical Patient Care

For: Veterinary Technicians

8 months, from October 13, 2016 to June 03, 2017

Course description

In the past decades much advancement has been achieved in the science and art of anesthesia, perioperative pain management and critical patient care. In parallel expectations for improved and safe anesthesia and analgesia in animals increased within the general public. Therefore, advanced education of veterinary technicians in veterinary anesthesia, analgesia, and perioperative care is necessary to satisfy the growing expectations of both the veterinary community and animal owners and to optimize health care of our animals in the future. The course program designed by NARKOVET CONSULTING, LLC. has been endorsed by the American College of Veterinary Anesthesia & Analgesia (ACVAA) and the Academy of Veterinary Technicians in Anesthesia & Analgesia (AVTAA), and is RACE-approved. It will be administered in collaboration with ETHOS VETERINARY HEALTH/VETBLOOM, which contributes the on-demand e-learning components to the program. Thus, the 4-module course combines traditional methods of lecturing and laboratory/workshop teaching with the new technology of on-demand e-learning. Furthermore, the program offers training in techniques of basic and advanced life support through on-demand e-learning modules and in-person simulator sessions developed by Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine and leading to CPR certification by the American College of Veterinary Emergency & Critical Care. The program is directed towards licensed animal health technicians with focused interest in small animal anesthesia, analgesia, and perioperative care and potentially the desire to pursue in the future a career as veterinary technician specialist (VTS) in anesthesia & analgesia. The AVTAA will designate a total of 90 continuing education (CE) credits upon successful completion of the program. Module 1: October 13-15, 2016 • Module 2: December 01-03, 2016 • Module 3: March 23-25, 2017 • Module 4: May 31-June 03, 2017.
